The Chocolate Challenge – A New Year’s Resolution?

Chocolate Empowerment

I must admit I get tired of the ‘it’s a new year so isn’t it time for a new you’ approach.

That’s like saying ‘I know I am 20 kg overweight, but I’ll address it next year – in 10 months time so in the meantime.… I’ll keep eating!’

I know the start of a new year is a great way to make new promises to ourselves, but I kind of think its pointless.

Shouldn’t we do doing it all the time? Like a kind of continuous improvement thing when we really think about what we want from life and how to improve what isn’t working?

My weak spot is chocolate. A serious problem.  It has to be full cream, and either Cadbury or Lindt.  The rest don’t feature.  You can put a factory of any other chocolate in front of me and I won’t flinch.  But show me Cadbury’s and Lindt….. and I’m in trouble.  Sounds stupid, but it’s my Achilles heel.  And we all have one.

It’s my constant battle with this nemesis, this all-powerful taste that gets me every time.

Is it willpower?  Is it determination?  Maybe, maybe not.  Maybe it’s something my body just craves and I have to work out a way to have it in my life in a more conservative way. So I give myself permission to eat it when I want to, in intelligent quantities.

Chocolate empowerment.  Choosing to have it when I feel like it, as opposed to needlessly seeking it out and eating it.

What’s yours?
